iPhone Duo
The biggest screen ever.
Foldable, flexible and sturdy, with iOS features made just for it.
Arriving at the end of October.
5.4 inches on the outside, 7.6 inches of folding display when open.
iPhone Duo is the first folding iPhone. Closed, it is a phone with a 5.4-inch display that fits in a pocket; open, it becomes a device with a 7.6-inch display. It runs on the A20 Pro chip, the enclosure is titanium, and the battery lasts up to 44 hours of video playback.

The 5.4-inch outer display covers what you do on the move — messages, calls, camera, maps. The 7.6-inch inner display opens when you need more room: two documents side by side, a film, a spreadsheet, a long video call. Apple states that the inner display is 50 percent larger than the display on iPhone 18 Pro Max.
Both displays share the same aspect ratio, so content does not reflow or jump when you open or close the phone — the app carries on where it left off. Both reach 120 Hz and 3000 nits outdoors, so there is no difference in readability outside.
The enclosure of iPhone Duo is titanium, the front is protected by Ceramic Shield 2 and the back by Ceramic Shield. Water and dust resistance is IP68, to a depth of 6 metres for up to 30 minutes — which is unusual on folding phones.
Apple also states 35 percent recycled content in the device, of which 85 percent is recycled titanium in the enclosure itself.
The same chip is in iPhone 18 Pro: a 6-core CPU with 2 performance and 4 efficiency cores, a 7-core GPU with Neural Accelerators and a Dual 16-core Neural Engine. The phone runs iOS 27.
The rear system consists of a 48MP Fusion Main camera (26 mm, f/1.6) with sensor-shift stabilisation, a 48MP Ultra Wide (13 mm, f/2.2, 120-degree field of view) and a 12MP Telephoto with 2x zoom (52 mm, f/1.6), also stabilised.
On the outside there is a 12MP Center Stage camera at f/2.2, and inside a FaceTime camera placed under the display at f/1.8 — so the inner display stays whole, with no cut-out. The folding form also brings features no other model has: Smart Take, Duo Preview and Kid Cue.
Video is recorded in 4K Dolby Vision at 24, 25, 30, 60, 100 or 120 frames per second, and 1080p Dolby Vision at 25, 30, 60 or 120. Slow motion goes up to 240 frames in 1080p, or up to 120 frames in 4K Dolby Vision.

Apple states up to 24 hours of typical use. For video playback that is up to 44 hours on the outer display, or up to 31 hours on the inner one — the difference is expected, since a larger display draws more.
Charging to 50 percent takes around 20 minutes with a 60 W adapter, or around 30 minutes with a 35 W MagSafe charger. Wireless charging goes up to 25 W, over MagSafe and over Qi2.
Closed, iPhone Duo is 84.1 mm wide, 117.8 mm tall and 11.3 mm deep. Open, it is 164.6 mm wide, the same height, and the depth drops to 5.2 mm. It weighs 254 grams.
iPhone Duo makes sense if you often work from your phone and keep running out of room on screen — documents, spreadsheets, several apps at once, long video calls. Also if you would otherwise carry both a phone and a small tablet.
If you mostly use your phone for messages, photos and social media, iPhone 18 Pro gives you the same power and a camera with a variable aperture, in a familiar shape and for less money.
A folding phone is thicker when closed — 11.3 mm against the 8.75 mm of iPhone 18 Pro — and heavier, at 254 grams. On top of that, the rear system has two 48MP cameras and a 2x telephoto, while the Pro models have three 48MP cameras and 8x optical-quality zoom. Anyone who shoots mostly from a distance will get more out of a Pro model.
Both models share the A20 Pro chip, Wi-Fi 7, USB 3 and iOS 27. The differences are in the shape, the display and the camera.
If the camera matters most to you, choose iPhone 18 Pro. If the display matters most, iPhone Duo has no equal in our range.

Data transfers by itself at first start-up: bring the old iPhone close to the new one and accounts, photos, messages, apps and settings move across. From Android there is an app that moves contacts, messages, photos and the calendar.
The box has a cable but no charger — that goes for every new iPhone model. If you do not have a USB-C charger, it is bought separately. Cases, screen protectors and MagSafe accessories are in the iPhone accessories.
